Evaporator Coils

Enhancing Furnace Performance with High-Quality HVAC Coils

The cooling process of various air conditioning and refrigeration systems depends heavily on evaporator coils. As the heat exchanger, these coils enable the transformation of liquid refrigerant into a gaseous state. The evaporator coils enable effective cooling by absorbing heat from the surrounding air, creating comfortable indoor situations and preserving perishable commodities.

How Evaporator Coils Work

A suitable indoor temperature is maintained by the refrigeration cycle, which includes evaporator coils as a crucial component. The refrigerant, normally a gas, is compressed to a high-pressure, high-temperature state when the air conditioner or refrigerator is turned on. The heated refrigerant next enters the evaporator coils, which are found in the indoor unit of a refrigerator or the freezer section of an air conditioner.
The refrigerant inside the evaporator coils absorbs heat as warm outside air travels over them, quickly changing from a high-pressure gas to a low-pressure, low-temperature liquid. The temperature in the conditioned room is lowered as a result of this cooling process, which also causes the surrounding air to lose heat.

Types of Evaporator Coils

  • Air-Cooled Evaporator Coils: These are the most common type of evaporator coils found in residential and commercial air conditioning systems. Air-cooled coils use fans to blow air over their surface, where the heat exchange occurs, cooling the air in the process.
  • Water-Cooled Evaporator Coils: Commonly used in large industrial applications, water-cooled evaporator coils rely on a flow of water to dissipate heat from the refrigerant. They are highly efficient but require a constant water supply.
  • Shell-and-Tube Evaporator Coils: Found in some industrial refrigeration systems, these coils consist of a series of tubes enclosed in a shell. The refrigerant flows through the tubes, and water or another fluid flows around them, facilitating heat exchange.
